The CEO of GENTO Group of Companies (SL) Limited and 2023 Mayoral candidate for the Freetown city council under ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Mohamed Gento Kamara has unveiled their ground-breaking Seaport Project during a public disclosure event held on Friday, October 6th, 2023.
The construction of the seaport will be in the Dublin and Rickett communities of Banana Islands, Sierra Leone. It is also recorded that a previous public disclosure event took place in Waterloo township on Saturday, September 7th, 2023 where it was first made known and has been sealed for operations.
In his statement, he said, they want to start the construction with immediate effect.
“The project that we want to undertake is a project that the central government has to give you permission to do and before the government gives you the permission you have to get the environmental license” he stated.
He added that, they have engaged the community people within the localities to get them informed and involved in the construction process, adding that, the seaport will be the deepest in West Africa.
Speaking on the depth of the port to be constructed he said, it will be around a minimum draft of 20-24metres, adding that, it may subsequently help in the adding to stabilize the prices of many things in the country as well as helping the lives of people.
He maintained that the construction will provide job for about 1,000 Sierra Leoneans and after that the seaport will employ a minimum of 10,000 Sierra Leoneans for which the district and the people have to benefit greatly.
