The National Minerals Agency (NMA) has received 15 TVS HLX 150 motorbikes from the German development agency, GIZ, to strengthen its operational capacity and improve mineral sector governance in Sierra Leone.
The donation is aimed at enhancing the mobility of NMA Compliance Officers, particularly in accessing and monitoring remote mining sites across the country. The additional logistics support is expected to improve field supervision and ensure greater compliance with mining regulations.
Presenting the motorbikes, GIZ Representative Joseph Kamara reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the development of Sierra Leone’s mining sector through capacity building and logistical assistance.
He noted that improved mobility for compliance officers is critical to effective monitoring and responsible mineral resource management.
Receiving the items on behalf of the agency, the Director of Mines at NMA, Peter Bangura, expressed appreciation to GIZ for the timely support. He assured the donor that the motorbikes would be deployed efficiently to enhance the operational effectiveness of compliance officers nationwide.
