Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Mines and National Secretary General of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Umaru Napoleon Koroma and delegation have on the 16th April, 2024 ended engagement with people in the South and Eastern Regions respectively.
According to him, this came as part of the Government’s unwavering commitment to the implementation of the Unity Agreement as they have continued their diligent efforts to reach out and engage with the people in the South and Eastern Regions.
He said, they had the esteemed privilege of convening with various political parties, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Media Houses, and religious groups in the eastern region to discuss the significant endeavours of the tripartite committee, adding that, the contributions put forth by each party were truly exceptional and provided profound insights that undoubtedly serve as invaluable resources for the committee’s work.
“One notable point of consensus among all participants was the commendable foresight of the president in establishing a cross-party committee to address electoral matters spanning from 2007 to the present day. It was truly inspiring to witness both the main opposition and the government coming together at the same table to deliberate on these critical issues, as they strongly believe it will restore orderliness to our nation. Rest assured, all participants have reached a unanimous consensus on this matter” he stated.
He maintained that, they hope to formulate recommendations that will greatly assist them in navigating the recurring challenges that arise after every election as they reaffirm their unwavering commitment to implementing legal and proactive reforms that will significantly enhance the electoral process.
“We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Eastern region for their active and invaluable participation, as well as for lending their influential voices to this crucial discourse. We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the entire team, which includes esteemed individuals such as myself, Dr. Richard Conteh from the APC, Honorable Alpha Sesay, Deputy Minister of Justice, Honorable Helen Kuyembeh, and the Young Generation leader of the APC, Mr. Thorley” he expressed.
He stated that, with great enthusiasm, they shall now proceed to the south to engage with the four districts in the Southern Region.
This message to the south east region is a campaign message in disguise, it’s not a normal message
I hope what in the dark must surely come to light.
