The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Local Government has suspended all chieftaincy Elections across the country.

The decision to put a hold on all chieftaincy elections came after the ministry receives several complaints relating to inappropriate practices and illegal activities that are creating unnecessary tension and violence in communities.

Paramount chiefs are elected in their communities to help the government man the affairs of locals in their communities.
