The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Health, has officially announced the distribution of fuel to medical doctors for the third quarter of the 2024 fiscal year.
In a recent communication, the Ministry outlined the steps required to facilitate the process, ensuring that medical professionals across the country receive the necessary support for their operations.
According to the letter, fuel allocation for the period of July to September 2024 is now available for distribution. Heads of health facilities in all districts are instructed to formally request the fuel supply from the office of the Permanent Secretary.
These requests should include the names of all eligible medical doctors assigned to their respective facilities during the specified period.
The Ministry has also clarified the process for newly appointed doctors. In cases where a new doctor is eligible for fuel, the facility heads must provide additional documentation, including the vehicle life card, valid insurance policy, and the doctor’s posting letter.
The government’s efforts in distributing fuel aim to support medical professionals in performing their duties, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The Ministry of Health urges all facility heads to submit their requests promptly and accurately to ensure timely distribution.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting healthcare workers, especially in a period where their services remain critical to the nation’s well-being. The cooperation of all health facilities is highly solicited in this regard.
