The Sierra Leone government spent most of Thursday night offloading eight 20-feet containers filled with money, at the country’s Central Bank in the capital Freetown, source(s) with direct knowledge tell(s) TV-News24.

The offloading of the containers from the trucks at Bank of Sierra Leone, ended around 3 a.m. local time, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of government actions, said.

The consignment of money is arguably, the largest money to have ever entered in Sierra Leone.

“And this is the [largest] money ever entered in the country,” a source says.

It’s unclear what the money is meant for, and President Julius Maada Bio’s government isn’t immediately available for comment.

But Africanist Press, since early this year, have published numerous bombshell investigative reportage, chronicling rampant misuse of government funds within the Bio government – naming First Lady Fatima Maada Bio as one of those culpable.

A special unit of Sierra Leone Police called DELTA, provided security for the transfer of the money to Bank of Sierra Leone – throughout the night.

The DELTA police unit who provided security, were about 25 in number, and well-armed.

But they were kept far away from the bank area, where the trucks were depositing the containers of money. It’s unclear why…

The process started around 2 p.m. local time from Queen Elizabeth II Quay – Water Quay.

Water Quay is the larger of two ports in Freetown.

The police officers escorted the trucks carrying the containers filled with money from Water Quay, to Bank of Sierra Leone in central Freetown.
