The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has today, Thursday 7 July 2022 announced that all COVID-19 testing for inbound and outbound passengers have been withdrawn until further notice.

The announcement is made in a public notice issued by the Government of Sierra Leone together with the Ministry of Health.

The notice states that:

“The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed that COVID-19 testing for inbound and outbound passengers is withdrawn until further notice. In this regard, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation announces the following revised COVID-19 guidelines, which comes into effect at 12:00 midnight (GMT) on Friday, 8th July, 2022:

1. All inbound and outbound passengers MUST register on the travel portal www.travel.gov.s) before travelling into or out of Sierra Leone.

2. All inbound and outbound passengers 12 years and above are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated at least fourteen (14) days prior to travel.

3. Fully vaccinated inbound and outbound passengers with valid proof of COVID-19 vaccination will no longer be required to take a pre-departure or pre-arrival COVID-19 PCR test.”

The notice further reminded the public that the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over and it is in the interest of all to continue wearing face mask as appropriate, maintain hand hygiene, practice social distancing and be fully vaccinated.
