Anxiety and frustration are mounting among Sierra Leone government workers as many have yet to receive their December salaries.

Teachers, particularly, are expressing deep concern, with some openly expressing their frustration and worry.

One teacher, who wished to remain anonymous, told Tombo Media Enagagement Blog, stating, “I was hoping to prepare a nice meal for my children tomorrow. If I receive my salary today, I plan to go to the market and buy the necessary cooking items.”

The delay in salary payments has led to long queues and anxious faces at banks across the country. Workers are determined to remain at the bank premises until they receive their salary alerts.

Addressing the issue, State House Communications Director, Micheal Berewa, issued a statement: “Hey folks, salaries have been processed! There was a bit of a snag with the e-transfers from our central hub to different banks. Kudos to our GoSL Payroll team and all banking institutions who are working extra hours to ensure you receive your alerts.”
