On Wednesday, 26th November 2025, a tragic incident occurred within the Presidential Guard Precinct at Freetown International Airport (Lungi), when Corporal Steven (RSLAF 18181456) allegedly shot and killed his immediate superior, Warrant Officer Class One Moses Brima Kabba, both members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) Presidential Guard Unit.
According to witnesses, the dispute arose over the distribution of tokens given by the Vice President prior to his departure this morning. Corporal Steven reportedly claimed that Officer Kabba withheld funds that were meant for members of the Presidential Guard.
It is alleged that President Bio had distributed money to the guards upon his return from Angola yesterday, and that Officer Kabba failed to share the funds with his colleagues.
The practice of giving tokens to Presidential Guard members at the airport whenever the President or Vice President travels is said to be customary, though disagreements over distribution have occasionally caused tension.
Law enforcement and military authorities, including the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and RSLAF, have launched joint investigations into the incident.
The remains of Warrant Officer Kabba have been transported to Lungi Government Hospital.
No further details have been released as investigations continue, and authorities are actively searching for the suspect.
