Guinean troops have warned Sierra Leonean military personnel and residents of Sokoma, just outside Yenga, that they will soon return to take full control of the area, claiming it is part of Guinea, according to Hon. Ing. Fallah Tengbeh.
The Member of Parliament for Kailahun District, which covers Yenga, said the warning followed recent cross-border tensions between Sierra Leonean and Guinean troops in Falaba District.
He disclosed that heavily armed Guinean soldiers, equipped with light and heavy machine guns and full military gear, entered Sokoma where Sierra Leonean forces are currently deployed.
Hon. Tengbeh called for an increased Sierra Leonean military presence in the area to prevent what he described as another potential loss of territory to Guinea.

If dem komot we go shoot! The common solagan of salone soja pa civilian dem for politics. Well now guinea soja dem don komot, we wan c watin we gallant soja dem go do 🤔
This is gross stupidity. If fighting broke out maybe it is you and your family members who can become victims of the fighting. So stop being petty. How many civilians do you think diied during the civil war compare to Soldiers. Be wise
Thank you so much for your concern and for your hardworking, honorable Fallah Tengbah ,Your commitment of putting our people first is truly appreciated, and it gives many of us hope during this difficult time.
I want to speak honestly about the ongoing situation around Yenga. Yenga is not part of Guinea, yet there are continued attempts to take it by force. What happened in Falaba should serve as a serious reminder of why such actions must be approached with caution and respect. These matters require dialogue and mutual understanding, not force or intimidation.
We strongly believe that the best path forward is peace. Peace has always been our position, and patience has been shown again and again. However, it is deeply concerning that despite this peaceful approach, our boundaries and dignity continue to be challenged. When people feel that their land, rights, and sovereignty are being stepped on repeatedly, tensions naturally rise.
If these actions continue unchecked, there is a real risk that the situation could spiral out of control. That is something none of us want. Conflict would only bring suffering to innocent people on all sides, undoing years of coexistence and cooperation.
For this reason, I respectfully urge you to do everything within your power to help stop this growing tension. Strong leadership, timely intervention, and sincere dialogue are urgently needed to prevent further escalation. History will remember those who chose wisdom and peace over force.
We trust in your sense of justice and responsibility, and we hope that calm, respect for borders, and mutual understanding will prevail for the sake of our people and future generations.
“Our borders, our peace, our sovereignty — may wisdom lead.”
