Freetown residents are experiencing a temporary disruption to their water supply today, May 22, 2025, as the Guma Valley Water Company has initiated a five-hour shutdown for essential maintenance work.
The water supply to the capital was cut off at 2:00 p.m. to facilitate crucial repairs on the transmission pipeline.
The affected areas for this maintenance include the 22-inch transmission pipeline at Lakka, the 3-inch off-take valve at 7th Battalion, and Goderich.
Guma Valley Water Company management has issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by the shutdown.
They have also assured their customers and the general public that every effort will be made to restore water supply within the stated five-hour timeframe.
