The Guma Valley Water Company which is responsible for the distribution of water throughout the country has announced the emergency shutdown of the water supply in Freetown.
In a press release issued 18 August 2023, the Management of the Guma Valley Water Company stated that this shutdown will take effect immediately. The Company is informing the public of that the water supply to Freetown has been shut down with immediate effect for a period of six Hours (5 p.m. – 11 p.m.).
They went on to state that the rationale behind the shutdown is to facilitate the repair of a burst section on the 28 inches transmission pipeline at Mile 13.
At the end of the release, they called on the public to remain calm and extend their apologies for any inconvenience caused by the interruption in service.
