Alicia Hunt, the daughter of social media personality Hawa Hunt, has publicly criticized Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Bio, alleging inconsistencies in her account regarding her mother’s recent arrest.

In a Facebook post, the teenager directly refuted the First Lady’s explanation of the conflict with her mother, stating, “many of you already noticed the lies in this video where she constantly contradicts herself.”

The First Lady had previously stated that Hawa Hunt had been persistently insulting her, her husband President Julius Maada Bio, and their children for an extended period, expressing confusion over the repeated attacks.

Following Hawa Hunt’s release from Pademba Road Prison and return to Canada, Alicia Hunt indicated her intention to challenge the First Lady’s version of events. “Now that my mom Hawa Hunt is home safe in Canada, who’s ready for me to debunk the evilness routed in her arrest? The storm has passed and it is time for me to speak my truth,” she wrote.

Alicia Hunt described the First Lady’s statements as “blunt lies,” suggesting she would provide contradictory evidence. “A First Lady who claims to hold a moral standpoint yet sat there lying to all of you during Ramadan,” she stated.

Referring to the events surrounding her mother’s arrest, Alicia Hunt called them the “Nasty Truth,” claiming she had hinted at the real situation during her mother’s detention to warn the public of “scams, evil.” She further asserted that more information would be revealed, stating, “I will be posting full unedited phone calls, my conversations with the embassy, and much more.”

In a concluding statement, Alicia Hunt expressed a belief in retribution, saying, “Karma is already coming for many from this situation, and I will be the cherry on top. If anyone doesn’t like what I’m saying, come arrest me.”

Hawa Hunt, who has a significant online following, was arrested on December 22nd while appearing on the reality TV show “House of Stars.” The arrest was linked to social media comments made in May 2023 criticizing President Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio.

She faced charges under Sierra Leone’s Cybersecurity and Crime Act 2021 for allegedly transmitting insulting messages, inciting public disorder, and defaming the president and his wife.

On March 1, 2025, First Lady Fatima Bio released a video calling for Hawa Hunt’s release and denying any involvement in her arrest or prosecution.

Hawa Hunt was released from prison on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, after nearly two months in detention. This followed the First Lady’s public appeal and claims by female politician Dr. Sylvia Blyden that charges would be dropped.

The case also led to the resignation of former Canadian defense minister David Pratt from his position as Honorary Consul for Sierra Leone, who cited the detention as a human rights violation.
