The Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Kenya, Her Excellency, Isatu Aminata Bundu on Wednesday 19 October 2022 presented an investor from Kenya to the Speaker and the Leadership of Parliament in his Chambers at Parliament Building in Freetown.
Presenting the investor from Kenya to the Leadership of Parliament, Miss Isatu Aminata Bundu said that MWALE MEDICAL & TECHNOLOGY CITY CONSORTIUM is a group of dedicated investors, developers and engineers who are operating a company that is led by Mr. Julius Mwale, a Billionaire from Kenya.
She also informed the Leadership of Parliament that the Billionaire was in the country as a result of an invitation extended to him by President Julius Maada Bio during the course of the recently concluded UN Meetings in New York City, United States of America. Furthermore, Miss Bundu said Julius Mwale had already met with President Bio and he has expressed interest to invest in the steel industry and the construction of Lungi bridge.
Speaking to the Leadership of Parliament, the Kenya Billionaire, Julius Mwale said he was proud to be in Sierra Leone to meet with President Bio and the Leadership of Parliament on his proposed investments for the development of the country. He told the Leadership of Parliament that his Consortium was planning to invest in steel, agriculture, health, building of a new smart city and construction of the Lungi bridge. Julius Mwale also said that the asset of the Consortium is worth over Fifty Billion Dollars and he intended to make Sierra Leone the Singapore of Africa. He ended by extending an invitation to the Leadership of Parliament to go to Kenya to see his multi-million dollar projects in that part of Africa.
Reacting, the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu thanked Julius Mwale and Team for visiting Sierra Leone with the aim of investing in the country and wasted no time in assuring them that Parliament would be willing to ratify any agreement that will be presented by the Executive in light of their investment proposals to Sierra Leone.
Speaking of friendly investment climate, Dr. Bundu said that Parliament had recently domesticated a law on arbitration for the protection of investors and their investments in the country. Hoping for the construction of a new city, Dr. Bundu said such investment would be welcome by all political parties in the country.
Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Sidie Mohamed Tunis said an investment in the steel industry with a view to transforming raw materials into finished products was an initiative President Bio will be pleased with to take place within the borders of Sierra Leone.
The Leadership of Parliament including the Leaders of all the political parties in Parliament were pleased with the investment proposals and assured Julius Mwale and Team of Parliament’s support towards the realization of such an investment portfolio within the borders of Sierra Leone.
