Justice Mark Ngegba of the High Court on Monday sentenced a 45-year-old man, Mohamed Massaquoi also known by the alias “Kokomani,” to 100 years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

The defendant faced four charges: conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, armed robbery with aggravation, and two counts of unlawful possession of firearms, all contrary to Sierra Leonean law.

According to the indictment, the offenses occurred between July 21 and July 28, 2025, in Freetown. During that period, the accused conspired with others to carry out an armed robbery and used a gun to steal mobile phones, a DVD player, and other items valued at Le6,300,000 from victims Mohamed Marrah and Finda Kamara. He was also found in possession of two unauthorized AK-47 rifles.

Upon hearing the charges, the accused pleaded guilty on all four counts, admitting responsibility and attributing his actions to drug influence. He appealed for leniency, stating that he had recently converted to Christianity.

State Counsel A. Jalloh urged the court to impose the maximum penalties for the offenses and requested that the confiscated AK-47 rifles be transferred to the Small Arms Commission for destruction.

In his ruling, Justice Ngegba sentenced the accused to 10 years for conspiracy, 40 years for the first armed robbery count, 40 years for the second armed robbery count, and 10 years for unlawful possession of firearms. The sentences are to run concurrently, amounting to a total of 100 years imprisonment.
