Councilor Ibrahim Owen Bangura has firmly denied any involvement in the case of an unidentified corpse discovered off Tokeh Highway earlier this month.
The allegations, which circulated on social media, have caused considerable public speculation, prompting the Councillor to address the matter and clear his name.
Speaking exclusively to this reporter, Councillor Bangura expressed his shock and dismay over the accusations, emphasizing that his presence at the scene was entirely misinterpreted. According to the Councillor, he was called by Community Head Man, Momoh Kargbo, who informed him of a corpse found along the Tokeh Highway. Responding to the call, Councillor Bangura immediately went to the site.
“I went to the scene and saw the corpse, and then I informed the Adonkia Police Station for proper investigation,” Councillor Bangura explained.
The Councillor, however, pointed out that the accusations against him were part of a deliberate campaign to tarnish his reputation. He believes the fabrications are being orchestrated by individuals attempting to forcibly seize government lands. Bangura, known for his strong stance against land grabbing, stated that those behind the allegations are motivated by a desire to discredit him due to his unwavering commitment to protecting state land.
He reiterated his dedication to resolving land disputes through legal channels and peaceful dialogue, calling on all parties involved to respect the judicial process and uphold peace within the community.
Following his interrogation, Councillor Bangura was cleared of any wrongdoing by the police, who confirmed that he had no involvement with the discovery of the corpse. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and several suspects have been apprehended in connection with the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided in subsequent editions.
