The 68th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, from March 11 to 22, 2024, is a pivotal annual event promoting women’s rights globally. Focused on strengthening institutions and funding for gender equality, the CSW, under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), monitors the Beijing Declaration’s implementation since 1996. Each year, the CSW convenes in New York, addressing priority themes, evaluating progress, and setting global standards. Discussions lead to “agreed conclusions” adopted by member states, with participation from accredited civil society organizations. Notably, the CSW prioritizes sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), emphasizing human rights and access to contraception, emergency contraception, and safe abortion.
Minister Bah’s presence at the Commission on the Status of Women underscores Sierra Leone’s dedication to international collaboration and the proactive sharing of its success stories on the global stage
