Former All People’s Congress (APC) Internal Affairs Minister, Retired Major Sengu Koroma, who previously declared his political support for President Bio during the run for a second term, is urging members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) who are eager to succeed President Bio to shift their focus towards the development agenda that will propel the country forward.

Retired Major Sengu emphasized that President Bio still has several years remaining to complete his second and final term in office. Therefore, those aspiring to succeed him should refrain from discussing succession at this early stage of his second term. President Bio has introduced impactful initiatives such as Free Quality Education and Feed Salone for the benefit of the people of Sierra Leone. It is imperative that both opposition members and ruling government officials rally behind the President to turn his vision into reality.

Retired Major Sengu stressed that every appointee should align their efforts with the President’s agenda, highlighting President Bio’s visionary leadership. He pointed out the challenges faced by former President Ernest Bai Koroma when he allowed his Ministers and appointees to vie for party leadership prematurely. Retired Major Sengu also condemned the rising violence against the President, emphasizing that the unity and progress of Sierra Leone should take precedence over individual interests.

Commending First Lady Fatima Jabbie Bio for her steadfast support and commitment to her husband’s vision, Retired Major Sengu called on all citizens to stand behind President Bio. He expressed concern over the issue of drug addiction among young people and urged security forces to intensify their efforts in combating drug abuse in the country.

The defection of Retired Major Ismeal Sengu Koroma from the All People’s Congress Party (APC) to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has created a significant political void in the Eastern region and sparked intense debate among political analysts.

During his address at the Ahmadhiyya Secondary School field in Blama, Small Bo Chiefdom, a multitude of APC supporters who admire the leadership of Rtd. Major Ismeal Sengu Koroma fervently followed him.

It is worth noting that during his tenure as the Minister of Internal Affairs in the APC administration, he established a group known as United Kenema. This group was created with the objective of fostering inclusive discussions on the development of Kenema.

Recently, Major Sengu visited Kenema for personal reasons. During his visit, he took the time to meet with various youth and women’s groups, providing them with support in accordance with their needs. Additionally, he made an impromptu visit to the Regional Party office of the SLPP, engaging in constructive dialogues with his counterparts.
