Over the weekend, Ambassador Clair Buckley, the Ireland Ambassador to Sierra Leone, visited Moyamba District to oversee the ongoing implementation of the “Teach for Salon” project, which focuses on Early Childhood Development.
The project has been making significant strides in providing educational infrastructure and trained teachers to selected districts, including Taiama town in Kori Chiefdom and Senehun town in Kamaje Chiefdom within Moyamba District.
Expressing satisfaction with the project’s progress, Ambassador Clair commended the efforts of the “Teach for Salon” organization. The initiative aims to improve educational opportunities for young children by emphasizing early childhood development and ensuring access to quality education.
During the visit, key stakeholders played vital roles in discussing the project’s impact. Chief BobJosie, representing the Mowonga Section, Mr. Alie, the supervisor of schools, and MD Mabel Jabatty, the head teacher of RC Primary Taiama, expressed gratitude for the project’s support in addressing the shortage of qualified teachers.
RC Primary School and Jefferson B. Primary School in Taiama were highlighted as primary beneficiaries of the initiative, significantly enhancing educational facilities and resources, thereby positively impacting students’ learning experiences.
MD Josephine M. Saidu, CEO of the “Teach for Salon” organization, expressed appreciation to Ambassador Clair Buckley, the Irish government, the Ministry of Education of Sierra Leone, and the local community for their support, emphasizing the crucial collaboration among stakeholders in providing enhanced educational opportunities for children in Moyamba District.
