The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has announced a significant commitment to bolstering Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector.
The bank has pledged $40 million to support President Julius Maada Bio’s ambitious “Feed Salone Flagship Project,” which aims to ensure food security for the nation’s citizens.
The announcement was made during the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s weekly press conference. The IDB’s financial assistance will be channeled through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
President Bio has been a vocal advocate for self-sufficiency in food production, and this latest pledge from the IDB aligns with his ongoing efforts. The $40 million will be used to fund various agricultural initiatives, such as improving infrastructure, promoting sustainable farming practices, and enhancing access to agricultural inputs.
