President, Rtd. Brig. Dr. Julius Maada Bio, addressed the sixth parliament today, Thursday, August 3rd, 2023.

In a move towards enhancing Sierra Leone’s electoral process, Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh will lead a National Electoral Systems Review Committee to assess the planning and management of the 2023 electoral cycle.

President Bio announced the establishment the said National Elections Review Committee aimed at reviewing and recommending improvements for electioneering in Sierra Leone

President Bio, in his address at the State Opening of Parliament, said the June 24th Multi-tier elections identified some logistical limitations that were however assessed as not negatively impacting the overall outcome of the elections.

The committee will consist of representatives from development partners and civil society, fostering collaboration and ensuring a comprehensive review of the electoral system.

The Committee is expected to help to improve the Electoral Commission’s continued planning and conduct of transparent and fair elections, according to the President.
