During the official opening of the Police Regional Headquarters on Ross Road on Friday, 30 January 2026, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh addressed the issue of indiscriminate dumping of dirt and waste in Freetown. He identified it as a growing problem that threatens public safety and urban sanitation.
Describing street littering as a significant form of indiscipline, VP Jalloh emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness, particularly around police checkpoints and other public areas. He urged law enforcement officers to set an example in upholding public order and environmental hygiene.
The Vice President highlighted his personal observation of waste accumulation in areas such as Mile 38, including locations near police stations. He stressed that activities obstructing public safety should not be tolerated, noting that “social indiscipline requires social discipline.”
VP Jalloh also confirmed that the Government is collaborating with the Freetown City Council to address the sanitation challenges and improve overall cleanliness in the city.
