On Monday, 17th March 2025, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), under the Rural Productive Infrastructure Project (RPIP), held a significant meeting at the MAFS Conference Hall in Moyamba Town, Moyamba District.
The session brought together key stakeholders, including Block Extension Staff (BESs) and Field Extension Workers (FEWs), to discuss the selection criteria for Farmer-Based Organizations (FBOs) and Inland Valley Swamps (IVS) sites for the upcoming 2025 agricultural season.
The primary aim of the meeting was to ensure that all designated field staff are well-informed about the essential requirements and considerations for selecting FBOs and IVS locations.
This selection process is vital for identifying groups and sites that align with JICA-RPIP’s objectives of enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability.
A highlight of the initiative includes the selection of one Farmer Field School (FFS) to implement the Technical Package on Rice production (TP-R), which aims to equip local farmers with advanced techniques and practices.
Following the meeting, the JICA-RPIP team distributed fuel to both BESs and FEWs to facilitate the completion of the benchmark survey and the selection process for FBOs and IVS sites. This logistical support underscores JICA-RPIP’s commitment to ensuring a successful agricultural season ahead.
Bockarie Tikor Sandi, Assistant Agricultural Officer at JICA-RPIP in Moyamba District, emphasized the importance of collaboration and thorough preparation in achieving the project’s goals.
