The Judiciary of Sierra Leone with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Irish aid and other partners has on the 21st June 2023 launched the compendium of electoral laws ahead of the June 24th general elections.
The Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards, was joined by other judges from the superior court of judicature to officially do the launching by the judiciary.
The judiciary has also stated their television’s program titled ‘Know Yu Election Court’ that will help the citizens be abreast with the operations and things that will be handled by them, who presides over the elections offences and petition court, as the nation goes into the elections process.
The Chief Justice has also received a cross-section of the Commonwealth Elections Observer Mission to Sierra Leone as he assured the total preparations and readiness of the judiciary to independently handle electoral cases.
He maintained that they have trained and prepared as well as equipped 26 judges who may speedily preside over cases that may come up.
