Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has underscored the importance of digital transformation for West Africa’s development during his keynote address at the 20th ECOWAS ICT Council of Ministers Meeting held in Freetown on Friday, 27th March 2026.
In his address, VP Jalloh stressed the need for regional cooperation to establish a single digital market within ECOWAS. He noted that such a market would enable businesses to expand across borders, reduce the cost of doing business, and create tangible opportunities for citizens across the region.

The Vice President further emphasized that under the leadership of President His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, who currently chairs ECOWAS, the region must prioritize the development of an interoperable digital infrastructure. He highlighted that this infrastructure should be grounded in inclusivity, broad access, and a clear governance framework to ensure sustainable growth.

VP Jalloh’s remarks reflect Sierra Leone’s commitment to leveraging technology for regional integration and economic advancement in West Africa.
