The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, led a delegation of senior security officials to the International Counter-Terrorism Academy (AILCT) in Jacqueville, Côte d’Ivoire, in a move aimed at bolstering West African regional stability.

The visit is seen as a significant step in deepening the “security corridor” between Sierra Leone and its regional neighbors.

During the mission, Vice President Jalloh held bilateral meetings with high-ranking Ivorian officials, including the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Interior. Discussions focused on strengthening regional security through regular intelligence exchanges, capacity-building support for specialized security units, and joint training initiatives designed to harmonize counter-terrorism tactics.

The AILCT, a joint French-Ivorian project, serves as a center of excellence for training special forces, judicial officials, and strategic researchers from across Africa.

“This mission aligns with His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s broader vision of deepening regional security cooperation and bolstering Sierra Leone’s peacekeeping capabilities,” Vice President Jalloh said following the meetings.

Sierra Leone’s engagement in Côte d’Ivoire forms part of a wider diplomatic effort by the Bio administration to address insecurity. As the current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority, President Bio has repeatedly called for African-led solutions to the continent’s security challenges.

Vice President Jalloh also extended formal gratitude to both the French and Ivorian governments for their support, emphasizing that international partnerships are essential for promoting long-term peace in the region.
