Justice Momoh Jah-Stevens has today adjourned the high-profile murder trial of Abdul Kpaka, accused of killing his girlfriend, Sia Kamara.

The trial, which has drawn significant public attention, will resume on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Kpaka, represented by defense attorneys C.A. Bangura and A. Fullah Et al, is facing two serious charges: Count 1 – Murder, and Count 2 – Perverting the Course of Justice, where he is accused of fabricating evidence related to the case. Despite the gravity of the allegations, Kpaka pleaded not guilty to both charges during the hearing.

Presiding over the case, Justice Momoh Jah-Stevens assured both parties that the trial would be conducted impartially, with no emotional influence affecting the judicial process. He emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to the law, calling on the prosecution to submit the necessary criminal procedure act to guide the proceedings.

“I shall not grant you bail throughout the trial,” Justice Jah-Stevens proclaimed firmly, ruling that Kpaka must remain in confinement for the duration of the trial.

He clarified that this decision was made in the interest of both Kpaka’s safety and that of the state.

In his closing remarks, the judge urged the legal representatives on both sides to fully prepare for the upcoming proceedings, stressing the need for thorough comprehension of the case to ensure a fair trial. The case has now been officially adjourned to Thursday, September 26, 2024.

The trial is expected to resume next week, with both the prosecution and defense set to present further arguments.
