On September 9, 2024, a delegation from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana visited Sierra Leone’s Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, at the Police Headquarters in Freetown.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas B. Adombire Akologo, the team discussed KAIPTC’s role in enhancing law enforcement training across West Africa.

They highlighted the importance of continually updating training programs to address evolving security needs.

Inspector General Sellu detailed Sierra Leone’s security sector structure and his commitment to transitioning the Sierra Leone Police to a service-oriented model.

He stressed the importance of ongoing training and highlighted recent achievements, including the completion of the Senior Strategic Leadership Course by senior officers.

IGP Sellu also requested additional human rights training for middle management and lower-level personnel.

The visit concluded with a souvenir presentation and a group photo.
