Ahead of the National Playlist implementation, Sierra Leone’s Special Envoy for Entertainment and Investment, Kao Denero and his Board Members held a fruitful meeting on Monday with the Executive Secretary of the Independent Media Commission, Khalil Kallon.
The meeting was geared towards the involvement of IMC in reaching out to radio station owners and managers across the country for proper implementation of the National Playlist System.
However, Ambassador Kao Denero outlined the importance of the Playlist System to the Music industry and the economic benefit it will bring to entertainers within the sector.
The Executive Secretary of the Independent Media Commission ( IMC) Khalil Kallon reiterated his institution’s willingness in making sure that the vision of the Ambassador comes to reality.
He pointed out that Ambassador Kao Denero is on the right track as it is embedded in the IMC Code of practice for media institutions that, “Radio and Tv Stations shall endeavor to promote Sierra Leonean culture and the arts as a means of sustaining national cohesion and unity in diversity, to preserve national cultural identity, promote the national cultural heritage and enhance the development of cultural and artistic capabilities and institutions for public communication” .
Plans are on the way for the Office of the Ambassador on Entertainment and Investment and the Independent Media Commission to engage media outlets nationwide for a Swift rolling out of the Maiden edition of the National Playlist system.
