As part of his vision for efficient service delivery in the Western Area Rural District, the dynamic and hardworking Chairman Kasho Rolan Cole has today Thursday, 25th August 2022, launched two projects, the construction of a modernized type one Goderich Funkia Market and also the rehabilitation of the Hamilton Community Centre in ward 386 and 389 respectively in the Western Area Rural District.
Speaking at the launch of the projects, WARDC Chairman Kasho Cole noted he’s happy to witness the launching of the Goderich market as it is the felt need of the people of Funkia and Sherbro Town.
On the Rehabilitation of the Hamilton Community Centre, Chairman Rolan Cole called on the community to take ownership of the project as it will help the community to have a place to organize social, educational, and recreational events.
“The rehabilitation seeks to renovate and add to the space of the community center”.
The Chief Administrator, Mr. Raman Tom Farmer in his statement said all of the projects will be funded by the Council from the revenues collected in the district.
He called on the people of the Western Area Rural District to continue to pay their taxes to the Council as that will help bring more development to their doorsteps.
In his Keynote address, the Hon. Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Tamba Lamina, thanked the Council through its leadership for using the people’s money in community development as that’s why local councils were established in the country.
The launch of the projects was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council, Cllr Robert Browne, while an overview of the projects was given by the Council’s Development and Planning Officer Ellie George.
The launch was witnessed by district stakeholders and councilors of the respective wards.
The construction of the modernized type one Goderich Market with a butcher house, a fish house, market stalls, and a host of other facilities will cost five hundred & eight thousand new leones (580,000) while the rehabilitation of the Hamilton Community Centre will cost six hundred and eighty thousand new leones (680,000).
