The former presidential flagbearer in the 2018 elections for the National Grand Coalition (NGC), Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (KKY) has responded to critics on his decision to form an alliance with the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

The NGC Parliamentary Leader affirmed the importance of his decision and that their goals as parties are similar.

Dr. Yumkella said he has held meetings with NGC North America and Britain and Ireland branches following the NEC meetings more than a week ago.

In the said meetings, KKY affirmed his position to work with the SLPP and Bio Administration for the progress of the nation. However, some senior members within the party claimed that they were threatened during the meeting and felt that the party has strayed from its objective it was created for about 6 years ago.

The disagreement at the meeting sparked a resignation galore from senior members including Dr. Dennis Bright, party’s Chairman and Leader.

The NGC party polled the third highest valid votes in the 2018 presidential elections with many of their supporters being young Sierra Leoneans disgruntled with the two main political parties in the country.
