Sierra Leone’s Chief Justice, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has been recognized for his steadfast commitment to upholding the principles of justice and the rule of law in the country.

As Chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council and the first Sierra Leonean to hold this prestigious position, Hon. Chief Justice Kamanda’s impact has extended beyond national borders, earning him regional and international recognition for his advocacy of judicial reforms within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The citation accompanying the award reads: “…This certificate of merit is presented in recognition of his unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of justice and promoting the rule of law.”

In accepting the award, the Hon. Chief Justice stated that he remains duty-bound to uphold the Constitution and ensure that justice is administered fairly, efficiently, and accessibly to all who come before the Court.

Speaking on behalf of the presenting organization, Olabisie Kaiyindae, the representative of the JFJD from Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the Hon. Chief Justice for granting them the opportunity to present the certificate of recognition.

To grace the ceremony, justices of the Superior Court of Judicature were in attendance to support the revered Chief Justice. The President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Mrs. Tuma Adama Gento-Kamara was also in attendance.
