The former President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has arrived in Lusaka, Zambia to lead African Union Election Observation Mission.
The former President was appointed by the African Union Chairperson, Mr. Mousa Faki Mahamat to lead the African Union Election Observation Mission in Zambia from 4th to 19th August 2021. The news was confirmed by Zambia Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba.
The A.U observe mission will interact with various stakeholders that include, government officials, the ECZ, political parties, civil society, media organisations, and diplomatic community among others.
The engagement with various stakeholders will enable the delegation to understand and appreciate the preparations made so far towards the holding of the election.
The former President tweeted; “I have just arrived in Lusaka, Zambia where, under the aegis of the African Union, I’ll be leading a team of experts to observe the 12th of August Presidential elections. #elections #democracy #Zambia @_AfricanUnion @AUC_PAPS”
