Freetown City Council (FCC), alongside residents of Kroo Bay, has planted 40,000 mangroves over the past three weeks as part of its commitment to environmental restoration.

This initiative is part of the #FreetownTheTreeTown campaign, with funding support from the World Bank and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

An additional 35,000 mangroves will be planted in the coming weeks. A total of 289 Kroo Bay residents participated in the planting, working together to restore the local coastal ecosystem. The planting aims to address pollution and flooding risks, ensuring long-term sustainability through local involvement.

FCC continues to work with the community to create a more resilient and sustainable future for Kroo Bay.
