The trial of National Secretary General of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya Esq came to an abrupt halt on Monday as Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah and state prosecutors walked out of the court building, citing overcrowding and a dispute over the size of the legal defense team.

Proceedings were scheduled to continue today, but the courtroom was reportedly overwhelmed by the presence of over 100 lawyers appearing on behalf of the accused.

According to reports from the court, Magistrate Jah had requested that the defense team be limited to 15 lawyers and the state prosecution to two counsels to manage the proceedings effectively.

However, the sheer volume of legal practitioners present created a chaotic atmosphere, leading the Magistrate and the State Prosecutor to leave the bench without hearing the matter.

Lansana Dumbuya was subsequently remanded to the Pademba Road Correctional Centre.
