Seventy officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Immigration Department have completed a training programme on professional interviewing and fraud detection, organized with support from the Canadian High Commission.
The certification ceremony was held at the Canadian Consulate in Freetown, marking the conclusion of the programme aimed at strengthening investigative techniques and improving border management.
Speaking at the event, Canadian High Commissioner Myriam Montrat said the training equipped officers with modern and professional skills to better identify criminal activities and manage border security effectively. She noted that the certificates awarded reflected the competence and commitment demonstrated by participants throughout the programme.
Assistant Inspector General of Police James Musa, representing the Inspector General of Police, expressed appreciation to the Canadian High Commission for its continued support. He said the knowledge acquired would be cascaded to other officers through internal training initiatives and called for expanded capacity-building programmes in the future.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Sierra Leone’s security sector and enhance the operational capacity of law enforcement personnel in investigative and border management practices.
