Popular Lawyer, Augustine Sorie -Sengbe Marrah has responded to former APC Presidential Aspirant Dr. Samura Kamara’s recent interview on Voice of America (VOA), which addressed divergence and convergence issues in the Tripartite Report.

Dr. Kamara discussed a range of topics, including his willingness to meet with President Maada Bio and the implementation of divergent areas.

Marrah described the interview as one that reveals the leadership of the main opposition party but noted his reluctance to delve into the internal dynamics of political parties.

Dr. Kamara highlighted his concerns over the lack of consideration for “divergent areas” in the aftermath of the June 23, 2023 elections, which he and the APC rejected. He confirmed that while they sought reconsideration, the final report only mentioned these divergent areas without offering solutions.

However, Marrah pointed out that Dr. Kamara agreed to the process despite unclear terms of reference, participated throughout, and publicly signed the final report.

Marrah questioned the logic behind seeking a man-to-man dialogue with President Bio after willingly participating in and endorsing the Tripartite process. He stated, “Dr. Samura Kamara cannot impugn a process in which he willingly participated and took gleeful photos as co-negotiator. He cannot eat his cake and have all of it.”

Marrah criticized political parties in Sierra Leone for not advancing the interests of the people. He emphasized that the public’s right to information, particularly regarding full disclosure of election data, seemed secondary to the APC’s desire to be declared winners through the Tripartite process.

“The whole truth about the last elections might never be known to us, but it is known to God who has seen everything from the end to the beginning,” Marrah concluded.
