Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has taken a significant step towards ensuring stable energy supply for its operations by receiving Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) generators. The generators arrived at the Queen Elizabeth Quay and have since been transported to the company’s mining site in Ferengbeya, located in the Tonkolili district. This initiative aims to minimize the reliance on public power sources thereby providing a more sustainable energy solution for both the company and the local community.
The introduction of these HFO generators is part of LRMG’s commitment to reducing the impact on the general population of Sierra Leone. By deploying these generators, LRMG aims to alleviate the burden on public electricity resources, thus allowing the community to utilize the power provided by the government without the disturbance of private generator usage.
John, engineer – LRMG, shared insights on the capabilities of the new power station engines: “These high-standard heavy oil power station engines will ensure our HFO station operates effectively, producing sufficient electricity for our processing plant, which has a capacity of 12 million tons per annum. We have also designed a dedicated space for the installation of these five heavy engines, which, once operational, will generate over 43 megawatts of electricity specifically for our processing plant.”
The implementation of these HFO generators signifies a crucial advancement for LRMG as it seeks to navigate its electricity challenges. The company recognizes the need to operate independently of the public energy supply, ensuring that its operations are consistently powered while not encroaching on the energy needs of the local population.
With this initiative, LRMG continues to demonstrate its commitment not only to advancing its operational capabilities but also to supporting the sustainability of energy resources in Sierra Leone.
Ligh issue is our main problem of economy struggle in the country
Great move by this company, they disturb our limited power supply from Bumbuna again.
Thanks
