In a remarkable show of commitment to the development of sports in Sierra Leone, Leone Rock Metal Group has renewed its sponsorship agreement with the Sierra Leone Premier League Board.

The agreement, valued at an impressive $150,000 (equivalent to 3,388,170 new Leones), marks another milestone in the mining giant’s unwavering support for local football.

It is worth noting that in October last year, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), committing an impressive $80,000 towards the Sierra Leone Premier League for the 2023/2024 season. This year’s sponsorship commitment of $150,000 represents an almost 100% increase, showcasing the company’s growing dedication to supporting football development in Sierra Leone.
This renewed partnership was officially announced at a press conference held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown. Present at the event were representatives of Leone Rock Metal Group, Minister of Sports, Sierra Leone Premier League Board officials, National Sports Authority officials, Representatives of the Sierra Leone Football Association, key stakeholders in Sierra Leone’s football and members of the press.

The Chief Technical Officer LRMG; Mr Salim Sillah, in declaring this sponsorship reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering sports development in the country. He further stated that the company has supported numerous CSR projects across various regions, districts, and chiefdoms, but this sponsorship stands out as the largest CSR initiative the company has ever undertaken. “We believe in the potential of Sierra Leonean football, and this partnership is a testament to our dedication to its growth, “he concluded.

The Minister of Sports; Augusta James Teima applauded LRMG for its unwavering support highlighting the impacts of the partnership on the development of sports in the country. “I stand here representing the Government of Sierra Leone, and I want to say that we are very pleased with this partnership “she concluded.

Chairman Premier League; Mark Ngegba emphasized the significance of the partnership for the league. “This renewed sponsorship is more than financial aid; it’s a catalyst for growth. Leone Rock Metal Group has consistently stood by us, and their support continues to raise the league’s standards. We are grateful for their confidence in Sierra Leonean football,” he stated.
