Reports reaching us have indicated that the Mahera ferry has been stranded for over 30 minutes at sea.

There are claims that the ferry is crammed with people two times its capacity.

“For over 30 mins we have been stranded at sea due to Breakdown of the Mahera Ferry. Hundreds of people with fleet of vehicles are on board the Ferry. The Ferry is extremely overloaded may be twice its normal capacity. We are still in limbo as to what will be the next evacuation plan. This shows gross lackadaisical nature on the part of the Ferry Management for shunning the culture of maintenance,” one of the passengers on board lamented.
