The contractors and managers of the Bumbuna Hydroelectric plant, the Italian company WEBUILD, have completed the maintenance of the hydroelectric dam as the first turbine has become functional once more, generating close to 11 megawatts of electricity, and more electricity will be generated as the water level in the dam increases.
“Once the second turbine becomes operational in the next few days, Bumbuna will return to its full capacity by the end of June,” said an electrical engineer
10 days ago, the entire Bumbuna facility was shut down for maintenance, a mandatory annual activity. With the 11 megawatts now generated by Bumbuna, the national electricity provider, EDSA, is still assured of a reasonable quantum of electricity, as the Mokoth solar plant is now generating an appreciable 20 megawatts of electricity. SLSG of West African power network, from the Ivory Coast is providing 11 megawatts.
Karpowership has continued to provide 20 megawatts of electricity into the national grid.
An observer said taking into consideration of what is happening now, there is gradual improvement in electricity availability.
