Journalist Melvin Tejan Mansaray issued a public apology to the Speaker and Members of Parliament on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, during a hearing before the Privileges and Ethics Committee.
Mansaray was summoned for contempt of parliament following remarks he made on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM that were deemed to have tarnished the image and dignity of the legislative body.
During the hearing, Mansaray expressed remorse for his comments and read a written apology letter.
“On the consideration that the Honorable Speaker and some Members of Parliament have felt aggrieved, I hereby profusely tender my unreserved apology and undertake to withdraw my statement publicly,” he stated.

The Committee, satisfied with Mansaray’s apology and his commitment to retract his statements, decided not to pursue the matter further and adjourned the hearing indefinitely.
