Lawyer Augustine Sorie Sengbe Marrah made an optimistic tweet on healthy competition among politicians for national development.
Marrah stated that he hoped one day politicians would compete on who can develop the nation faster, who will supply uninterrupted electricity and safe drinking water, who will fix the roads with local and cheaper expertise, and who will provide efficient public services to serve the needs of the people and not the pockets or purses of few.
He said as a nation, they are tired of the unhealthy and unyielding competition among politicians, the deep-seated polarised politics just for political power, their plotting schisms and violence to destabilize the unity, peace, and freedom of the people, and also being over-taxed yet insignificant little to show for it apart from the enormous perks of public offices.
He continued that they just want the leaders to compete to make lives better the same way they compete to outmaneuver each other to get political power, adding that he knows they can because if they can do anything to get political power, they can do everything to make the lives of people count for precious plenty.
He disclosed that these politicians have no excuse to keep the people in this cycle of rut, adding that the people of Sierra Leone deserve better.
