The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education has officially granted permission for the Methodist Girls’ High School in Congo Cross to adopt a single shift system, effective September 2024.

This decision comes in response to the school’s request and reflects the Ministry’s recognition of the significant efforts by the school’s Board and Alumni Association to restore the institution’s former prestige.

In its approval letter, the Ministry acknowledged the valuable contributions made by the Board and Alumni Association, which align with the Government’s educational goals. The addition of twenty new classrooms and corresponding WASH facilities is noted as sufficient to support a single shift system given the current student enrollment.

However, the Ministry has outlined two key conditions for the transition:

Enrollment Cap: The school administration must ensure that student enrollment does not exceed the current total of 2,936. An increase beyond this number could compromise classroom management and affect the quality of education.

Administrative Structure: The existing two administrative structures must be maintained to ensure effective and efficient management of school operations.

The Ministry will closely monitor the school’s adherence to these conditions to ensure the successful implementation of the single shift system.
