The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education, MBSSE has intimated through the Director of Research and Curriculum Development, Osman Kamara, that they will soon commence the review process of the Home Economics Curriculum. 

He made this comment while addressing Headteachers from various Home Economics centers in Freetown, at the Rokel Secondary School Hall.

He maintained that, the review process will lead to the development of syllabi to teach Home Economics at Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

He further revealed that the Ministry will undertake the review process in consultation with some experienced teachers of Home Economics across the country.

From their side, the Headteachers from the various Home Economics centers, who were present at the meeting welcomed the news of the Home Economics Curriculum Review.

Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry at the Meeting, the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary reassured the Home Economics Teachers of the commitment of government to mobilize resources to scale-up the standards of the Home Economics centers across the country.

They revealed that, the meeting is part of the regular chat sessions, the Deputy Director of the Home Economics Unit at the Ministry, Mrs. Mariatu Koroma holds with Home Economics Teachers and Heads of Home Economics centers across the country.

This was seen as a greater thing for the home economics sector in schools and the review will stand to make the sector very active throughout the country they maintained.
