Leaders from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Finance, Transport and Local Government have convened to strengthen school bus management and ensure student safety.
According to Augustine Koroma,the National FQSE Programme Coordinator at the Ministry, the meeting is part of the Ministry’s preparations for the reopening of schools on September 8, 2025. Mr. Koroma disclosed that last year, Coordinators of the FQSE Secretariat and officials from the School Quality Assurance Directorate discovered several anomalies affecting pupils’ safety and learning.
He further noted that the Ministry has joined forces with other line ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure the smooth operation of school buses nationwide.

Stakeholders present at the meeting held at the MBSSE Headquarters Conference Room included the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Hon. Conrad Sackey; MBSSE’s Deputy Minister 1; the Chief Education Officer; the Deputy Minister of Finance; the Deputy Minister of Local Government; Chief Administrators from Local Councils across the country; and senior officials from the Ministry of Transport.
