Sennior officials from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) conducted a surprise visit to various registration centers for the November 2024 Private WASSCE.
Deputy Minister II, Madam Mamusu Patricia Massaquoi, along with the National Coordinator of Free Quality Education, Augustine Koroma, led the inspection, which aimed to oversee the ongoing registration process for candidates who missed the 2024 government WASSCE.
The unexpected inspection was part of the ministry’s broader efforts to provide a second chance for students who had been unable to sit for the government exams due to registration issues and challenges with Continuous Assessment Scores (CASS).
These candidates now have the opportunity to register for the upcoming private exam and continue their academic pursuits.
Madam Mamusu emphasized the importance of the initiative, highlighting the government’s dedication to education and inclusivity.
“We want to ensure that all students, especially those who missed the initial opportunity, can still achieve their academic goals through the private WASSCE,” she said during the visit.
In response to the ongoing registration challenges, the MBSSE extended the registration deadline by three additional days, giving eligible candidates until Thursday, September 19th, 2024, to complete their registration. The ministry hopes that this extension will provide more students with the time and opportunity to register.
Augustine Koroma echoed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality education. “Our focus is on making sure that no student is left behind, and this surprise visit is to ensure that the registration process is smooth and that all eligible candidates are able to participate,” he stated.
The surprise visits, conducted across several centers in the Western Urban district, are part of the government’s continuous efforts to support its Free Quality Education agenda.
By directly engaging with the registration process, MBSSE officials are working to ensure transparency and efficiency, while reinforcing their commitment to creating equal opportunities for all students across the country.
