The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education have written a letter to the Local Councils for the banning of street vendors to sell valentine’s memorabilia on the entrances and perimeters of schools.
The Ministry believes that the act of street vendors selling the valentine’s regalia and merchandise on school entrances and perimeters sends out the wrong signal, especially as most of the pupils largely misconstrue the whole essence of the feast.
The ministry affirmed that they are very mindful of the potential threat to the pupils’ protection obligations in school environments, which is why they are requesting for the Local Councils to cause these traders to desist from trading around the schools particularly in valentine’s merchandise.
