Five men appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Monday, August 12, 2024, to answer to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, larceny, and unlawful possession.
The accused, identified as Emmanuel Sorie Kamara (driver), Melvin Philip (unemployed), Alie Koroma (security guard), Mark Sahr Njai (technician), and Abdul Bangura (businessman), are alleged to have conspired to steal a drum of cable valued at Le12,000 from the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) substation in Goderich, Freetown.
Bangura is also accused of being in possession of a black cable and other cable-related items suspected to have been stolen from EDSA. All five defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Defense counsel Chernor Kamara Esq. applied for bail for all accused persons, but the court granted bail only to Mark Sahr Njai. The case has been adjourned to August 19, 2024.
