The Attorney General and Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay, has disclosed that the Government of Sierra Leone has engaged the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Party in high-level discussions aimed at advancing the country’s constitutional review process.

According to a statement issued by the Attorney General, on Friday, 16 January 2026, he and the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, held what he described as productive discussions with representatives of their “brothers and sisters” from the opposition All People’s Congress Party.

The engagement focused on the recently published Constitutional Review Bill, which has been gazetted, the processes that led to its publication, and the next steps in the broader constitutional reform journey.

Both sides, the statement noted, emphasized the importance of collaboration and inclusivity, stressing that the constitutional review must transcend political interests and be treated as a national process.

“We all underscored the need to work together and to make this a national process one that will be owned by Sierra Leoneans,” the Attorney General stated.

The discussions mark a significant step toward building consensus and national ownership of the constitutional reform process, as stakeholders continue consultations to ensure that the new constitution reflects the aspirations and collective will of the people of Sierra Leone.
